Badge printing & colours
On screen an attendee’s badge page wears your event’s colours. On paper it prints light by default — light background, dark text — whatever those colours are.
That split is deliberate. A dark-skinned event printing as designed means a solid dark area across the whole badge: it drains ink on an office printer and smears on the thermal printers most check-in desks use.
The default
Nothing to configure. Every event prints light unless you change it, including events whose website theme is dark.
Printing in your event’s colours
Open the event → Website → Badge printing and turn on Print badges in the event’s colours.
It is off by default and set per event. Turn it on only if you know the printer being used handles a dark background well — the reason for the default is physical, not aesthetic, and it does not go away because the badge looks better on screen.
What the setting does not affect
- The kiosk print path. The check-in kiosk prints its own transparent, four-field badge so pre-branded badge stock shows through. It is unaffected by this setting.
- A badge design you uploaded. Your own artwork carries its own background and text colours, so it prints exactly as designed either way. This setting governs the automatic default, never a design somebody made deliberately.
- The eBadge PDF. The PDF is laid out from your badge template and renders that template’s own background — it does not follow the event’s screen colours in the first place.
